Players would fight solo battles against other players in the league, ideally twice (home and away) where 'home' players choose the map and 'away' players don't.
We have 10 Halo3 'regulars'

Crimson
Give or take some new players or unavailabilities we should easily be able to manage an 8-12 player 1vs1 or FFA league.
Team Slayer gametype - 'home' player goes red team, 'away' goes blue team
25 kills
10 minutes
Assault Rifle and Magnum spawns
Radar On
3 points for win
1 point for draw
0 points for loss
Primary maps: (you may play these maps)
Guardian
Blackout
Cold Storage
Narrows
Epitaph
Construct
Isolation
Snowbound
Assembly

I'm guessing quite a few of you aren't turned on by the sound of a 1vs1 league. Well, I was extremely bored this afternoon at work so I had a little think around any other possible leagues we could run, assuming people haven't had enough of this already.
Some ideas then
Obviously games would be played on a one vs one basis. With 6 players in the league this would account to 10 games each, 5 'home' and 5 'away', with a total of 30 games played by everyone. (This would only increase to 14 games each for an 8 player league, much more managable than our 3v3 matchup method).
Regarding the home and away gimmick, I was thinking for the first time two players meet in the league then one will pick a map to play on from a pool of suitable duelling maps. The other player then picks the map for their second meeting. If you can't manage to decide then we could do it alphabetically or something.
The map pool hasn't changed much from our older leagues given that the much larger maps are really unplayable in these situations:
Guardian
Cold Storage
Blackout
Narrows
Construct
Foundry
Isolation
The Pit
Epitaph
Snowbound
ref other maps: Valhalla, Sandtrap, Avalanche, Last Resort, High Ground, Ghost Town, Standoff, Rat's Nest and Mythic maps I don't have
Assault Rifle only weapon spawns. Getting to a BR shouldn't be a problem here like it is in an FFA

If one of us creates an 'official' gametype and everyone gets it from their fileshare or something to make sure we're all playing the same game, like Jayk's odd mutation of TSR Slayer a while back
This leaves the scoring which I'm still undecided about. Games wouldn't result in a draw often enough for points gained there to make a difference. Unless maybe draws are awarded when a game runs out of time before the 25 kills are reached regardless of score, though I can envisage people infuriatingly trying to hide during the entire match to squeeze out points.
edit: How about playing the league in Duel mode? ie the current game leader has a waypoint above their head, or indeed some sort of leader penalty, leaving scoring at 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw.
One more thing, maybe we could award bonus points after the league for set criteria regarding medals eg the person with the most assassinations will collect bonus points equal to the gap between first and second on assassinations. Or something like that.
